We are searching for a Business Development Manager who can provide digital leadership on new and existing client relationships while helping to grow our presence in the South African market. The brands we’ve built and work have succeeded due to our ethos of using innovation and creativity to develop better businesses. The  Business Development Manager role is perfect for candidates who have an entrepreneurial spirit and are seeking an agency environment that combines the start-up mentality with the desire and skills to help other brands and companies perform. As Business Development Manager you will help build and sell through digital marketing solutions and grow our client base. You will work collaboratively with the team to effectively identify opportunities and guide program execution and growth across key accounts.We are seeking an individual who can assist our goals of new brand positioning, client targeting, content marketing and networking.

The Business Development Manager will work in close partnership with our MD to accelerate the growth of opportunities, building partnership and winning new accounts. Working at the forefront of the business it will be your responsibility to define the sales process and coordinate activities, manage the sales pipeline, develop proposals that meet the client’s requirements, close and negotiate deals, pitch services and other related tasks.

To qualify. You should be an ambitious, ideas-driven Business Development Manager / New Business Exec / Sales Manager / Sales Director / Digital Sales Manager or similar who can demonstrate:

  • Prior sales experience, within a digital/marketing agency, advertising agency, social media agency, IT services consultancy or B2B professional services firm;
  • Ability to network and build meaningful commercial relationships;
  • An experienced negotiator with the ability to identify and develop new opportunities;
  • Experience of developing proposals and managing the sales pipeline;
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills;
  • Highly motivated, flexible and adaptable nature;
  • Resourceful, tenacious problem solving skills; 
  • Compelling and persuasive communication abilities.

Your Daily Adventures to Include (but not limited to):

  • Develop new opportunities with key clients
  • Lead multiple accounts to drive incremental revenue 
  • Work with the management team to develop integrated marketing strategies including display, search, mobile and social channels
  • Direct all aspects of client business from strategy through proposal through execution with attention to quality and detail and the foresight to identify (and circumvent) potential red flags
  • Drive the evolution of digital innovation by staying abreast of the latest digital platforms, social trends and mobile technologies with the ability to strategically translate these into client programs
  • Deeply understand, appreciate and influence brand insights, customer segmentation, and target needs to assist in the development of thoughtful and strategic marketing plans and executions
  • Serve as point of contact with clients, working directly on digital strategy
  • Professionally manage client feedback, direction and expectations that results in trust-based client relationships
  • Orchestrate partnerships with teams across the agency ecosystem to manage priorities, schedules, and deliverables
  • Provide accurate financial management of client business from scoping to forecasting and budget reconciliation
  • Deliver effective oral presentations (over the phone and in person) with poise and confidence
  • Support Senior Management in new business opportunities as needed

Experience We Require:

  • Education Level: (Required) Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5-7 years experience working in interactive media in some capacity (i.e. Search, Social, Display, Mobile, Programmatic, etc)
  • Proven ability to tell communicate program strategy and results through effective written and verbal story-telling
  • Technical web experience, such as expertise in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, is a plus
  • Keen understanding of how site analytics tools work and the ability to pull and evaluate data
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Experience planning, buying and managing multi-channel direct response programs
  • Sharp analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to thrive and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple task simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal & organizational skills
